To mark the tenth anniversary of production of the Paul Yates film “Twelve Months of Mourne” we have issued a special edition DVD.
The programme commissioned by UTV was the winner of the prestigious New York film and television ‘Best Direction’ award.
‘These twelve short films form a unique record of the year 2010 from January to December in the magical Kingdom of Mourne in Northern Ireland. Exquisitely shot and accompanied by Yates’s mesmeric narration each film portrays the poet’s personal visions of Mourne, it’s people, folklore and natural beauty.’ Lord Glentoran
Michael Wilson, former Managing Director, UTV, said:
‘XII MONTHS OF MOURNE’ shows what is possible when unique creative ideas are perfectly executed. Yates’s films are distinguished by the same creative risk taking as his poetry and painting. His acclaimed productions, MASTERS OF THE CANVAS, RETURN JOURNEY, NATIONAL POETRY DAY SERIES, STORY OF A SECRET and XII MONTHS OF MOURNE have all won international awards and intrigued and delighted audiences the world over.’
Also available is a special suite of MOURNE books containing poetry by Paul Yates originally commissioned by the Tom Caldwell Gallery, with the participation of artists Basil Blackshaw, Colin Davidson, David Dubois and Jack Pakenham.
